MEASUREMENT SPECIFICATIONS

CATAGORIES:

-- The Humanx Commonwealth ---
A double standard of measurement exists, possibly due to the original Articles of Amalgamation.

Credit
This is the basic unit of money throughout the Commonwealth. It is issued in both paper and coin form, as well as the personalized Credcard and Cardmeter. In coin form, the credit is rectanguar in shape, and ranges from a 100th piece to several multiples. The credcard is an electronic device for transfering money, and cannot be used by anybody but the owner, since a thumbprint is required before a transaction can be completed. Banks store personal credit information, all hard currency is in circulation. Terrans use the ten-based Metric System which was hundreds of years old at the time of the Amalgamation. Also in use are T-Standard units of time and gravity, based on Terra's length of day and gravity. Thranx use the eight-based HH-Standard, which is probably older than the metric system.

Chronit
Unit of a Thranx hour, equivalent to the minute.

Hour
Equivalent to 49 minutes, 48 seconds of a Terran hour (83% as long).

Day
Probably about 20 Terran hours.

Tam
Currently unknown.

Ginhought
A very great amount (possibly like "humongous").

--- Tran-Ky-Ky ---
In some cases there is confusion between a name meaning a standard, or a difference in dialect.
Units of distance, in ascending order:

Suntt
About 40 meters.

Kijat
Equivalent unknown.

Satch
The equivalent of the kilometer.

Units of time, in ascending order:

Kuvit (Tuvit,Zuvit)
Equivalent unknown.

Hoid
Equivalent unknown.

Vate
Equivalent unknown.

Tenday
Ten Tran-ky-ky days. Used like a "week".

Malet
Equivalent to the month.

Shayear
Possibly equivalent to the decade. The Tran dating system is called "S.N.C.".

Foss
A unit of money.

Pled
Another exchange medium. One thousand metal pled is a good amount by local standards.

Jahn
Tran: "star", compass point in navigation, like "degree".

Serl
The largest denomination of coin minted. The coin is made ofSunit.

Anat
A unit of time, equivalent to the second.

Legat
A unit of distance, about 1/6 kilometer.

--- The AAnn Empire ---
Units of time are not well-established, but Time-Parts are smaller than Time-Lengths. What the AAnn words are is currently unknown. A symbol of the AAnn clock is Mi, used to indicate noon. The only example of AAnn money is the Southing, a very small unit.
Units of distance, in ascending order:

Verr
A basic unit of distance, comparable to the inch.

Teverr
A multiple of the verr, about 16 inches.

Cluvit
A unit probably larger than the meter.

Kuyster
A unit of volume, similar to the gram.

Doam
A unit of energy.
It is possible the AAnn use base 16 in measurements and mathematics.
